The Utah Assistive Technology Foundation

Program Features and Initiatives

Marilyn Hammond

Utah Assistive Technology Foundation

This article describes key features of the nonprofit Utah Assistive Technology Foundation, including 0% interest rates for consumer assistive technology loans, creative community partnerships, small non— federally funded consumer grants, successful marketing, and targeted minority outreach strategies. These features have gradually evolved over time as the program has grown and changed to better meet the needs of people with disabilities in Utah. To date, the program has served approximately 250 children and adults with disabilities. Hundreds of other individuals have used the program as an information and referral center for disability services.
